Adopted Acres Homestead Barbershop Shaving Soap 4oz

Homestead Barbershop takes the classic barbershop scent and moves it out of the city and into farm country. Adopted Acres started from Rive Gauche — a fragrance woven deep into the history of American shaving cream — set it in a traditional corner shop, and nodded toward Maison Margiela's At The Barber. The picture is Saturday morning in a rural town: people who spent the week among the corn and cattle queuing at the door for a clean cut and a smooth shave.

Star anise, rosemary and basil open it brisk and green, cut with bergamot and bitter orange. Lavender and geranium bring you inside in the mid-notes, with clove and coumarin adding a masculine spice. Patchouli, oak moss and vetiver bring the land back in, while black pepper, guaiac wood and white musk hold a deep, clean base — and there is a distinct red-leather barber chair running through the middle of it.

A tallow and lard soap on a stearic backbone with aloe vera, glycerin, bentonite and silk amino acids. Loads easily, builds a dense creamy lather, and gives the cushion and residual slickness that make second and third passes comfortable. Mint, lavender and basil are the dominant impressions off the tub.
